ZTB team is evaluating optimum screening strategies for presentations across the tuberculosis infection and disease spectrum using innovative screening algorithms and tools. As part of implementation research, tools for TB testing including Cy-Tb, TST, and artificial intelligence-based image reading for children and adults are being evaluated. Understanding of the factors determining the uptake of TB screening including the choice of preventive treatment regimens and various people-centered approaches could help inform the national program of the best strategies for optimum uptakes and yields across the TB care cascade, as well overcome the pervasive barrier of social stigma. The team has demonstrated the effectiveness of wide-scale testing for TB infection and preventive treatment in reducing the burden of disease in congregate residential settings and community.
